He was born on September 2, 1959 in Iowa City, Iowa to Shirley and Duane Erickson. Jon grew up in Athens Georgia, where he attended Athens Academy and the University of Georgia.
Jon was an avid fisherman, outdoorsman, hunter, Georgia Bulldog fan and gardener. He loved his wife, Jan, of 29 years, and his family with all his heart. He loved growing vegetables in his garden, and fishing on his favorite rivers, the Chattahoochee and the Soque. Jon was an outstanding mentor to so many and made many fine friends along the journey of life.
Jon is predeceased by his beloved mother, Shirley Erickson.
Survivors include his loving wife, Janet Pardue Erickson, his father, Duane Erickson, his siblings: Scott Erickson, Kristi Harrison (Ron), Angie McCarthy (Mike), and Jay Erickson (Brandi), his nephews and nieces: J.B. Erickson (Anzlee), Adam Erickson, Kevin Erickson, Ridge Harrison, Nick Harrison, Case Harrison, Erica McCarthy, Paige McCarthy, Rebecca McCarthy, T.J. Erickson, Sam Erickson, Luke Erickson, and many cousins.
A stranger to no one, Jon will be remembered for his quick wit and his dedication to his family.
A Celebration of Life Service for Jon will be held on Sunday, October 17, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapelwood United Methodist Church, 100 Janice Drive, Athens, Georgia 30606.
