Born in Tacoma, Washington, he was the son of William Howell Potts and Kathy Lynn Stehman Potts. Mr. Potts had served one tour of duty in Kosovo and two tours of duty in Afghanistan with the US Army and was currently employed with the Georgia State Patrol as a trooper cadet. He was also attending on line classes with Liberty University working toward a degree in Criminal Justice and was attending the Oconee River Methodist Church.
Survivors in addition to his parents are fiancé Katie Marie Garrison of Watkinsville; sisters Micole Joelle Davis of Leeds, SD., Aubry Rose Hoard of Spearfish, SD, Ruthanne Catherine Riley of Fort Walton Beach, FL and Shannon Noel Potts of Olympia, WA; brothers Daniel Morris Potts and Wilson David Lee Potts both of Olympia, WA; maternal grandfather R. Morris Stehman and wife Diane of Summerfield, FL; maternal grandmother Rosalee Readout and husband David of Montrose, CO; paternal grandparents Carl and Mary Harms of Sturgis, SD and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 6pm Tuesday at the chapel of Bernstein Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Hoard officiating. Interment will follow at a later date in the Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis, SD. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project P. O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Monday, August 19, 2013 at Bernstein.
