A native of Greene County, GA, Mr. Lundy was the son of the late Virgil Davis Lundy and Bertha Mae Wood Lundy and was preceded in death by two sisters, Lula Catherine Lundy and Jeannie Faye Lundy. He served in the United States Navy and was a retired commercial building contractor. He was a member of the Elks Lodge and Forest Heights Baptist Church.
He was remembered as a great youth coach in the local feeder program CYA Colts for football for 12 years and Westinghouse Little League baseball team for 15 years. He enjoyed teaching the kids and watching them grow. Even had a song written by Harold Williams of “The Jesters” called “Big Jack” referring to Harold’s brief working experience with Jack as his boss in the construction industry.
Survivors include his wife, Suzette Batson Lundy of Athens; sons, Stacey Davis Lundy and wife, Carla of Cumming, GA and Mark Brian Lundy and wife, Heather of Watkinsville, GA; daughter, Manda Renee Wilson and husband, Kevin of Alpharetta, GA; brothers, David Leon Lundy, Richard Lee Lundy, and Virgil Kerry Lundy; grandchildren, Mitchell Davis Lundy, Alexander John Wilson, Katherine Grace Wilson, and Madden Lea Lundy, one uncle and two aunts, Grover Eugene Wood of Pensacola, FL; Eunice Welsh of Greensboro, GA; and Velma Webb-Bauman of Winterhaven, FL.
Pallbearers: Shanan Batson, Zachary Batson, Shea Minton, Wes Minton, Chase Daniel, William Lundy, and Robert Worthen.
Funeral services will be held 11AM Saturday, September 14th in the chapel at Bernstein Funeral Home with Rev. Sonny Sessions officiating. Interment will follow at Oconee Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9PM Friday, September 13th at the funeral home.
