A native of Madison County, Mrs. Moorehead was a daughter of the late Roy Strickland and Birdie Morris Strickland. She retired from the University of Georgia where she worked in food service.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Janice Moorehead; brother, Joe Neal Strickland and grandson, Shane Moorehead.
Survivors include son, Dennis Moorehead of Amelia Island, FL (Cynthia Ballas Moorehead, formerly of Augusta); sister, Annelle Ward of Madison County; grandchildren, Cassandra Szczotka (Chris), Dana Eckerman, Alexis Spade (Jesse), Amelia Polham (Scott), Paris Campbell and Leann Rea (Keith); great-grandchildren, Rush, Roman, Penelope, Eli, Zoe, Chase, Nicholas, Caden, Alec, Athan, Jude, Rhodes, Lilla and Denver; cousins, Sara Greer and Sandra Doolittle, both of Colbert.
She was known as Memaw to all.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 3 at 3 p.m. at the chapel of Bernstein Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Holmes officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m., prior to the service.
