Raised in Louisville, GA, Lin was the only child of Edwin Linton Dixon Sr. and Thelma Harrell Dixon. After high school graduation, Lin attended The University of Georgia where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Public Health in 1967. He was drafted by the United States Army and served in Vietnam for nearly 3 years. Following his service in the Army, he went on to earn a Master’s of Governmental Administration from Georgia State University in 1975.
Lin was an avid sports fan but especially loved his Georgia Bulldogs, having attended nearly every home game from 1963 to 2022. Lin was thrilled to be able to see the Georgia Bulldogs win 3 National Championship titles in 1980, 2021, and 2022. He was the proud father of 3 daughters to whom he instilled in each his love of the Georgia Bulldogs.
Lin is survived by his wife, Diane L. Dixon, of 49 years, his 3 daughters, Dawn (Andy) Doty-Marikis, and twins, Sheilah (Daniel) Dixon Huckabee, and Shannon (Mark) Dixon Baine, all of Athens, GA. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He was a DGD.
