Born in Irving, TX, Ty spent most of his childhood in Roswell, GA before moving to Naperville, IL, as a teen where his love for law enforcement began as a Naperville Police Explorer. After graduating high school, he continued his education at the University of Georgia, graduating in 1998 with a degree in Political Science. Shortly after graduation, he joined the Madison County Sheriff's Office, where he spent his entire career, starting as a Jailer and working his way up to an Investigator. Ty enjoyed fishing, music, sport shooting, and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include parents: Douglas E. Martin and Evelyn Smith Martin of Athens; brother, Jared Martin of Athens; nephews: Christopher Meurer, Edward Witchie, Ethan Martin; and nieces: Laura Martin and Breanna Martin.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 14, at 2:00 p.m., in the Bernstein Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Matt Marston officiating. Interment will follow in the Stevens Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Lexington.
The family will receive friends Thursday, February 13, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Bernstein Funeral Home.
