Don is survived by his wife, Sharon; his son, Matthew Cashin (Laura) and grandchildren: Sarah and Daniel of Florence, South Carolina; his sister, Jane Cashin Murphy of Simpsonville, South Carolina and her son, Jack Murphy of Nashville, Tennessee. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Myrtle Cashin.
Don was born in Orangeburg, South Carolina. As a student at Orangeburg High School, Don played baseball, football, and was a member of the track team. He attended Clemson University and graduated with a degree in Industrial Management in 1969 and was a lifelong Tiger.
Upon graduation, he began his career in the banking industry. In 1984, he relocated to Athens, and took a job with Athens First (now Synovus). During this time, he was an active member of the Rotary Club. He was the Group Vice President for Loan Administration when he retired in 2008.
Don loved the great outdoors. He emulated his father as an avid hunter. He loved to hunt turkeys and deer and enjoyed camping. He often visited and camped in National Parks with his wife and friends. He rarely missed an opportunity to hit the road in his beloved, decked out Jeep.

A Celebration of Don's Life will be 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 29, 2022, in the chapel of Bernstein Funeral Home with Chaplain Kevin “Chappy” Hynes officiating.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.
