David Ray Phillips of Athens, GA died March 8, 2022. Born into a happy family in mid-west America March 1, 1952, David spent his later years as a handsome humble southern genius enjoying life in the home he loved and tended to for many years.
David was a hardworking family man who loved and cared for his beloved wife Lisa Crawford-Phillips, his children John Phillips, Sydney Longshore and her husband Brandon; his grandchildren, Oliver Dickerson, Reece Longshore, and Riley Longshore; and his many extended family members. David is preceded in death by his parents Celia and Raymond Phillips and his sister, Joan Phillips. He is survived by his brother Gary Phillips of Norman, OK, as well as his wife, children, and grandchildren.
After working most of his career at Wilkins Industry then later the YWCO, David retired in 2016 and enjoyed spending time with Lisa riding their E-Bikes, tending his garden of vegetables, daffodils and flowering shrubs, playing guitar, and keeping up with friends, family, and community.
David loved capturing videos and photos of family members in happy times together and often edited and compiled memories to share with his wide community of family and friends both near and far. A lifelong musician, David often recorded music with various friends and collaborators over the years.
A memorial gathering for David Ray Phillips will be held Sunday, March 13, 2022 at 2pm at Bernstein Funeral Home, 3195 Atlanta Highway, Athens, GA 30606.
