Darcel Cason Adamson

The daughter of Monroe and Avinelle Cason, Darcel was born in Waycross, GA and spent her childhood in Appling County, Baxley, GA. Darcel was a fifth generation Appling Countian.

Darcel’s great loves were her family and her home. She had only one biological child, but she was a mother to many. She often said that the greatest dividend you would ever receive came from investing yourself in your family. Home was truly where her heart was, and she loved welcoming and hosting friends and family in her homes in both Augusta and Athens.

Darcel was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, W. Clay Adamson, Jr. and her son-in-law, Mike Malcom. Darcel will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Heather Malcom and her grandson, Cason Clay Malcom of Athens, GA; and by her sister, Nona Altman (Dennis) and her niece, Angela Altman, of Baxley, GA.

A family graveside service will be held at Omega Cemetery in Baxley, GA at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the W. Clay Adamson Experiential Learning Scholarship at the University of Georgia, 285 South Jackson Street, Athens, GA 30602 or to the State Botanical Garden of Georgia, 2450 S. Milledge Avenue, Athens, GA 30605.
