Billy Joe Bullock

Billy Joe Bullock, of Houston, Texas passed in peace Saturday, July 18, 2015 at the age of 83 after a long battle against a debilitating stroke. Billy Joe was born in Athens, GA in 1931 to parents, Lloyd and Stella Hawks Bullock. He was preceded in death by his sisters, LaClaire Brown, Rose McIntyre and brother George Bullock.

He graduated from Athens High School in 1948 as an Honor Military Student and served in the Army from 1955 receiving an honorable discharge in 1961. He attended the University of Georgia and was a 1st Lieutenant in the R.O.T.C Band. He graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1958. He joined Crawford and Company Insurance Adjusters in July, 1958 in Atlanta, GA and was promoted to Manager and transferred to Decatur, IL in 1968. He faithfully served the company for more than 40 years and received several commendations from his peers in the Insurance and Law industries.

He had a great love for his family, especially spending time with his children, grandchildren and dog, Macho. He had an eye for fashion and always enjoyed shopping for colorful and stylish suspenders and ties to complement his vast array of suits. He loved raising and showing German Shepherds, watching and discussing sports, especially his favorite football team the Georgia Bulldogs, and shopping for his kids and grandkids.

Billy Joe is survived by his son, Jason Bullock and daughter, Traci Bullock Messina of Houston, TX; sister Janice Bullock Lee of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Alex, Lauren, Jake and Gia and his cousins, nieces and nephews.

Our family wishes to thank the many caregivers at Home Sweet Home and Hospice care in Houston, Texas that treated him with grace and dignity.

All are cordially invited to a visitation on Sunday, July 26, 2015 from 1-3 pm. Chapel service will follow at 3pm at Bernstein Funeral Home. Burial immediately following at Evergreen Memorial Park.
