Barbara Ann Adkins Farber, a long-time resident of Athens, died Friday, March 30, 2012. She was preceded in death by her husband, William R. “Bill” Farber and her daughter, Patricia Ann “Patti” Farber.
Mrs. Farber was born October 14, 1920 in Winchester, Wisconsin. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Dietetics from Purdue University, where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority.
While in Athens, Mrs. Farber was a long time active member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church and member of St. Margaret’s. She was also involved in the Athens Regional Hospital Auxiliary and a Pink Posie. She also served on the Housing Corporation of Kappa Alpha Theta at the University of Georgia.
Mrs. Farber is survived by her grandson, Charles Ward Snelling, III of Elberton; a sister-in-law, Mrs. John Ross of Midland, Texas; a dear family friend, Elaine Hudson Tillman of Athens; a family friend, Jane Eason; and two nieces and a nephew.
Graveside service will be held Tuesday, April 3, 2012, at 10:00 at Oconee Hills Cemetery with The Most Reverend Mark Haverland officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 498 Prince Ave, Athens, GA 30601 or to The Salvation Army, 1000 Center Place NW, Norcross, GA 30093.
