Angelita D. Moon

Angie (Angel) Moon (nee Angelita de la Garza) was born on November 8, 1937, in San Antonio, Texas. Angel died peacefully surrounded by family in Athens, Georgia, at 10:45 p.m. on July 7, 2017, at the age of 79.

Angel is survived by brother, George de la Garza, Jr., San Antonio; sisters: Elizabeth Pitney Biggers, Ellijay, Georgia; Linda Payne Massengale, Marilyn de la Garza Flores, both of San Antonio; children: George Garry Moon, Athens, Georgia; Michael Derek Moon, Cleveland, Ohio; Angie Moon de Avila, Athens, Georgia; grandchildren: Angelita Isabel Avila, Daniela Xochitl Avila, both of Athens, Georgia; Ethan Michael Moon, Cleveland, Ohio; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Angel is preceded in death by father George de la Garza, Sr., mother Juanita Contreras Payne, husband Larry Dan Moon, and brother Carlos J. de la Garza.

Visitation will begin on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. with a rosary to begin at 7:00 p.m. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South in San Antonio, TX.

Funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, July 21, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. A procession from the funeral home will depart at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow at San Fernando II Cemetery.
