Mr. Thomas Blair, son of the late Eddie and Savannah Blair was born on February 25, 1933 in Lilborn, Missouri. He was the third eldest of ten children. Thomas attended O’Bannon High School in New Madrid, Missouri where he played basketball and graduated in 1953. He went on to enlist into the United States Army and served as a Heavy Vehicle Driver and Cook. Thomas served for 2 years and was honorably discharged in September 1958 with a medal for good conduct.
On August 11, 1960, he was united holy matrimony to the love his life, Georgia Ann (Brown) Blair. Thomas and Georgia were blessed with a 50 year union and five children. Georgia preceded him in death in October 2010.
After serving in the military, Thomas worked in Facility Maintenance for the United States Postal Service for 32 years, and as a Custodian at Percy L. Julian High School for 20 years. He was a member of North Star Methodist Baptist Church in Lake Providence, Louisiana and a devoted member of the Deacon Board from 2015 until his passing. He attended every Sunday as the Lord permitted. Mr. Blair was active in his community, serving as a Boy Scout Troop Leader, hosting block parties and engaging with neighbors. As a result of his generous spirit and pleasant personality, he was loved by many. He quietly departed this life Monday, April 24, 2023, at home. He was preceded in death by his wife Georgia Blair, and son Derwin Blair.
Pastor Alvin Thomas from Power of God's Ministry in Jonesboro, Arkansas will be officiating a private Celebration of Life for the family at McConnell Funeral Home.
His beautiful life will forever be cherish in the lives of his children: Maurice (Sharon) Blair, Bobby Blair, Stephanie Blair and Tyrice (Theresa) Blair-Moore. Grandchildren: Mikal (Abrawham) Helm, Sarah Blair, Bobby Blair, Andriana Moore, Tyriene Moore, De’Andra Moore. Great-Grandchildren : Mikayla, Karmela, Ezra and Hezekiah. Siblings: Lavern Blair and Shirley Nicholson and host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
