Mark was born January 18, 1957 in Illinois.
He is a U.S. Marine, serving for 8 years. Mark worked at Department of Corrections for 30 years serving the State of Alabama.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Sprouse and one sister, Melody Pelzer.
Mark enjoyed guns, hunting, working in the flower beds, hummingbirds, and anything pertaining to the Marines. He also enjoyed telling stories, however, his absolute favorite thing to do was spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his loving wife Tonya Pelzer of Athens; six sons, Jeremy Pelzer of Harvest, Josh Watwood of Cullman, Heath Pelzer of Athens, Tory Pelzer of Decatur, Kirk Watwood (Lauren) of Hazel Green, Jesse Watwood of Ardmore, AL; one daughter, Mindy Brown of Chicago, IL; four brothers, Brandon Ray (Keisha) of New Hope, AL; Michael Ray (Sara) of Bartlesville, OK, Brian Pelzer (Patricia) of New Hope, AL, Bobby Ray of Huntsville, AL; his dad Bob Ray from Bartlesville, OK; ten grandchildren, Alex Vazquez, Brayden Watwood, Landen Garrett, Kane Pelzer, Rylee Watwood, Brantley Sanders, Eli Watwood, Bentley Watwood, Theo Watwood and Asher Watwood.
Funeral service will be Sunday, April 21, 2024 at 12 P.M. with Charlie McAdams officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, April 20, 2024 from 5:00-8:00 P.M. Burial will be in Gipson Cemetery in Clouds Cove.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Straight, John Cordle, Richie Leathers, Jason Leathers, Charles Thompson, and Jesse White.
