He was a retired 1st Sergeant in the United States Army and elected to retire in Athens, AL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mervin C. and Pearl Hudson, his father and mother in-laws, Leslie and Faye Rude, his sister, Nell Funches, brother, Jerald Hudson, his brother in-laws, Charles Bobe and John Rude and sister in-law, Katie Dauzat.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 55 years Ann Hudson, sons, Jimmy Hudson (Esther) of Brea, CA and Chris Hudson of San Antonio, TX. He is also survived by five grandchildren: Presley, Danica, Nicholas, Nate and James, one sister, Wyoma Bobe of Athens, Alabama, one sister in-law Barbara Hudson of Mobile AL, two brother in-laws: Leslie Rude Jr. of Gulfport, MS and David Dauzat of St. Francisville, LA,.
Jim was a true patriot, having dedicated 40 years of his life to serving his country on either active duty or as a Department of Defense civilian. In his spare time, Jim was happiest flying RC airplanes, fishing or riding his Harleys.
Flowers may be sent or donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in Jim's honor. Supporting our nation's veterans was one of Jim's lifelong passions.
Celebration of life will be Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at McConnell Memorial Chapel at 7:00 P.M.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M. at McConnell Funeral Home.
