Dorothy Louise Hay

Mrs. Dorothy L. Hay passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at her residence. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Jasper, AL.

Visitation will be Sunday January 22, 2012 from 6-9 P.M. at McConnell Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hay was born April 22, 1923 to Fred Virgil Higginbotham and Callie Ola Toombs Higginbotham in Little Rock, Arkansas. She was a resident of Athens for over fifty years. She passed away after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Athens.

Mrs. Hay was preceded in death by her parents; husband John B. Hay, Jr.;

Mrs. Hay is survived by her son John B. Hay, III. Of Athens, AL; daughter Callie Stewart and husband Brad of Athens, AL; eight grandchildren Miranda Stewart, Benjamin Stewart, Jacob Stewart, Katie Hay, Will Hay, Emily Hay, all of Athens, AL, Annette Williams of Indiana; Amy Hay of Washington; three great grandchildren Dylan Williams, Julie Williams, Meadow Williams all of Indiana.

Pallbearers will be Benjamin Stewart, John McDougle, David Hay, Tommy McDougle, Roger Williams, and James Agee.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Jacob Stewart, Will Hay and Dylan Williams.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to AlaCare Hospice and Alzheimer’s Association.
