Roy Leon McQuown 94, Creston, California, was called from this life on Wednesday, January 30, 2019. He was born in Los Angeles, California Oct 15, 1924 on his father's birthday. He leaves his wonderful wife Wilma L. (Steele) McQuown of 71 plus years whom he met in a malt shop in North Hollywood CA and married Sept 1, 1947, in Reno, Nevada. He was preceded in death by both of his parents, father Carl H. McQuown and mother Sylva V (Webster) McQuown and brothers Earl R. McQuown, Lawrence L McQuown, G. Nolan McQuown ..
He went into the Army Air Force in 1943. Roy was a fireman with the City of Los Angeles for 25 years. With his brother Nolan as his partner and tennis teacher, he enjoyed playing tennis in which he won 2 National singles titles and was 2nd two times, in doubles with his brother, Nolan, he won 3 national titles and was 2nd two times, also with his brother they won 12 state titles and finished 2nd two times. Altogether with his brother they were 1st in 41 tournaments and 2nd 15 times. Roy played with his wife Wilma and won 3 state titles and 2nd in one, all together they won 11 titles and 2nd I time. Roy's overall record was singles 40 1st 18 2nds, men’s doubles was 58 1st and 26 2nds, mixed doubles 33 I" and 13 2nds, all together 132 wins and 57 2nds.
He moved to Creston, CA to retire after he and his wife Wilma fell in love with Creston and built their new home there. He also leaves his daughter Marilynn Feuerstein of Creston, who raises world championship Appaloosa horses and her two children, Daniel Feuerstein of Los Osos and Rochelle Bittleston of Buttonwillow and 4 great-grandchildren.
