James Frank DeQuattro, born in October 8, 1931 in Providence, Rhode Island, left us on Monday, December 29, 2014 in Templeton, Calif. Jim came to California in 1943 with his family, where they settled in San Bernardino. He joined the army in 1951 and fought in the Korean War. He came home and married the love of his life, Patricia DeQuattro. While the years were not always easy, it was evident to anyone that knew Jim how much his wife and family meant to him. Jim spent the first 28 years of his marriage to Patricia in San Bernardino before relocating to San Luis Obispo in 1983 and then Templeton in 1989. While in San Bernardino, Jim and Pat were partners in a plating shop, Empire Plating in Colton. They continued their business for a few years in San Luis Obispo before Jim's "retirement" in 1992. He was a member of Saint William's Church in Atascadero for the past 25 years. Jim's laugh and bright smile touched all who came to know him. Anyone that had the privilege of knowing Jim knew he loved life. His greatest joy was to surround himself by his family. He liked nothing more than to sit back and watch his children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren interact with each other at holiday get-togethers. He was content knowing he passed on the tradition of pasta making and nothing made him happier than to watch his grandchildren carry on that tradition. Jim also loved sports and could recount the most obscure trivia questions at the drop of the hat. We often joked that had his children worn sports jerseys he would have been able to remember our names better. Jim was truly one of a kind and will be missed by all that knew him. He loved a joke as much as he liked a good argument. He loved music and he loved to dance, even when it embarrassed his grandchildren - especially when it embarrassed his grandchildren. The stories he left his families and friends with will keep his memory alive for years and years to come. Saying that Jim will be missed is the ultimate understatement. His infectious laugh and love for his family will forever be in our hearts.
James is survived by his wife of 59 years, Patricia DeQuattro; children: Karen Clark, Michael DeQuattro (Sue), Teresa Ryan (Gene), James DeQuattro (Stephanie) and Annie Lachance (Gilles); sister, Camille Indrieri as well as 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren with two more due in June, 2015. He was preceded in death by his father, James DeQuattro, Sr. and mother, Eleanor (Nellie) DeQuattro. A Celebration of Jim's Life will be held with a Memorial Mass on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at St. Williams Church in Atascadero at 10:00 am. A Rosary will be performed at 9:00 am, immediately before the Memorial Mass at 10:00. A reception following the service will be held at the church hall. All are welcome.
