Theresa Marie Albers

It is with great sorrow, we announce the passing of Theresa Albers, of Bengough, SK on March 6, 2013 at age 48. Born January 20, 1965 she is predeceased by her father Albert Desjarlais, brother Paul Desjarlais, parents-in-law Andy and Ellen Albers. Theresa is survived by her husband Donnie, two daughters Chassity (Robert) Kincaid and Shawna (John) Britton, her mother Diana (Lyle) Dixon, granddaughters Emma and Aria, brother Brian Lasko, sisters Donna Desjarlais, Tiffany (Mike) Saunders and Lola Lasko and numerous nieces and nephews.

Theresa was once described as “a small person with a big heart”. She was a person who, when asked how you were doing, really wanted to know and listened to what you had to say. This trait made her very popular with the residents at the Bengough Twilight Home, where she worked for 22 years. She always had time to listen to their stories about their families and the “good old days”. She worked as a resident attendant for many years and then took on the position of cook.

Theresa was also an awesome cook. You knew if you were invited to their place for a meal you were going to eat good and you were going to eat lots!

Theresa loved to travel. She and Donnie were able to travel to many different places, sometimes with family or friends, or sometimes just the two of them. They travelled to Barbados, Mexico, St. Marten’s, Hawaii and Florida, to name a few.

Theresa loved concerts and was able to see Sir Elton John, The Rolling Stones, and her favourite, Celine Dion. She also was an avid Roughrider Fan. They attended many games, or if they weren’t able to go, watched them on TV.

But Theresa’s greatest love was for her family and friends. She loved to have people around and enjoyed spending time with them. Her girls were the apple of her eye and she was very proud of the young ladies that they have become. She was able to see them both marry wonderful men and blessed her with two beautiful grandchildren.

Many happy memories were made in her short 48 years and these are the memories we will hold dear and close to our hearts forever.

Funeral Mass was celebrated Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, Bengough, SK. Father Anthony Pangan, celebrant. Altar server was Mattesyn Jones. Honor Guard was formed by Catholic Womens League. Readers were Sherry Enns, Debby Petersen and Sandra Enns. Loving tribute was given by sisters-in-law Sherry Enns and Debby Petersen. Music Ministry led by organist, Donna Morris and the Bengough Community Choir. Pallbearers were: Donald Bailey, Alex Houssian, Paul Hoffart, Colin Giblett, Perry Jones, and Ryan Gerde. Interment followed in the Bengough Cemetery. Donations in Memory of Theresa may be made to St. Michael’s R.C. Church Memorial Fund or the Bengough Health Centre Auxiliary.
