Louis Victor Joseph Rivard

Louis Victor Joseph Rivard passed away in the arms of his family at Foyer d’Youville in Gravelbourg, SK on Saturday, January 26, 2013. Louis was born April 20, 1935 at Willow Bunch, SK and grew up in the hills south of Harptree, one of a large closeknit family. When he left home he moved to Alberta where he became an ironworker, a trade in which many of his family followed and in which the Rivard name is well known and respected to this day. He married Doris McGillis from Willow Bunch with whom he had five children. He was predeceased by his parents, Delphis and Victoria Rivard, brothers Gerry, Daniel, Paul, Oscar, and sisters Evelyn and Terrylynn. Louis is survived by his children: daughter Peggy Quirk, grandaughters Kristen, Chandra and Ashley, and their children; daughter Louanne (Jeff) Baiers and granddaughters Elysia, Lauren and Lyndsay and their children; son Louvin, son Daniel and his sons Jacob and Levi, and daughter Janet; brothers James (who had been his neighbour and buddy for many years in Congress and later in Fordyce Manor in Assiniboia), brother Jean of Congress, brother Glen of Williams Lake, B.C., brother Eric of Enderby, B.C., sister Tina Lehn of Medicine Hat, sister Victoria (Ken) Gair of Medicine Hat, and sister Eva (Ed) Winder of Assiniboia, as well as a host of nieces and nephews and friends. Louis loved Jesus, laughter, and country music. He has finished the course, he has run the race, he has kept the faith.

Visitation was held Friday Evening, February 1st, 2013 at Ross Funeral Chapel. Funeral Service was held Saturday, February 2nd, 2013 at Ross Funeral Chapel, led by Ken Gair and family participating in scripture and tributes. Organ Prelude and Postlude played by friend, Dale Carnegie. Honorary Pallbearers were friends of Fordyce Manor. Pallbearers were: Aaron Rivard, Bevin Dyck, James Rivard, Jerry Rivard, John Rivard and Tom Legare. Interment followed in St. Ignace Roman Catholic Cemetery, Willow Bunch, SK.
