Lorraine Lewis

It is with great sadness that the family of Lorraine Lyne Lewis (Heil) announce her passing, on November 13, 2021 in Assiniboia, SK at the age of 66. Lorraine was born on March 29, 1955 to Herbert and Rose Heil in Neudorf, SK. She grew up on the family farm outside Lemberg, SK.

Life was simpler back then on the farm and she would entertain us with stories from her childhood. These included driving the old grain truck to school and snowball fights in the library, amongst many others. When she was 19, Lorraine met her dedicated husband of 45 years, Neil and spent her life by his side. Lorraine and Neil were married in Lemberg, SK on March 6, 1976 at the age of 20. After marriage, they moved for work to Beechy, SK, then on to Rocanville, SK until they finally settled in their home of 38 years, in Rockglen, SK. Neil and Lorraine built a life in Rockglen. They established a rich community of family, friends and neighbors who were always there for support when needed. Lorraine spent many years raising not only her own children, but also many foster children and exchange students. She spent time working at the local bar, the post office, and was an amazing artist; creating beautiful flower arrangements for weddings, graduations, etc. Anyone who knew Lorraine, knew her gift for flower arranging. Neil and Lorraine enjoyed traveling, whether it was taking the kids and a camper all over Canada and the USA, or just quick trips to the city to see family or friends. Camping was a way of life for them, even more so as the kids grew up and moved away. They spent many nights sleeping in the camper.

Lorraine is survived by her best friend and husband, Neil Lewis (of Rockglen, SK) and their dog Benji; daughter, Brandi Dayman (Lewis) and grandchildren Kylynn and Tyce (of Sherwood Park, AB); son, Travis (Katrina) Lewis and grandson Mason (of Martensville, SK); son, Tyler Lewis (of Coronach, SK), and daughter, Kimberly Lewis (of Moose Jaw, SK). Lorraine is also survived by her beloved sisters; Sharlene Campbell (Doug), Brenda (Louis) Schneider, Crystal (Brad) Burgart, brothers and sisters-in-law; Wayne (Diane) Lewis, Joan (Erv) Hickie, and Glen (Norma) Lewis as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends. Lorraine was predeceased by her father and mother, Herbert and Rose Heil, and by her father and mother-in-law, Wilbert and Mildred Lewis.

A Celebration of Lorraine’s life was held Saturday, December 4, 2021 at 1:00 pm at Ross Funeral Chapel, Assiniboia, SK. Pastor Robert Langdon officiating. Beautiful tribute was given by Gail Mattson.
