Larry Cleveland Cook, of Bengough, SK, passed away May 21, 2023 at age 71. He was born March 12, 1952 at Bengough, SK. In 1942, the family moved to the Buffalo Gap district. In 1945, the family bought a farm in the Buffalo Gap district. The children attended St. Jerome and Big Beaver schools.
Larry was predeceased by his parents, Clifford (1975) and Dorothy (2002), sister Irene (1962), brother Billy (2003), brothers-in-law Vern Rasmussen and Norman Coomber, and niece Jody Coomber. Larry is survived by one aunt, Iona MacLean; sisters Norma Rasmussen, Patricia Coomber, and brother, John (Ruth) Cook, nephews Barry Rasmussen and Robert (Michelle) Cook; nieces Lori (Meryle) Derksen, Nancy Coomber and Deanna Cook.
Larry worked alongside his brother, Billy, on the family farm until 2003, and then ran a smaller portion of the family farm until 2012 when he moved into the Bengough care home. In addition to working on a grain, cattle and sheep farm, he also kept the farm machinery running with his mechanical abilities.
Larry is an avid fisherman and an award-winning hunter. He also enjoyed attending rodeos, bull riding events and Rider games. One of his passions was gardening both on the farm and at the care home. Larry enjoyed country and western music.
Larry’s family would like to give special thanks to the present and past staff at the Bengough Care Home.
Graveside service will be held Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at 2:00 pm at the Bengough Cemetery.
