Evelyn Ev Witt Hainsworth Witt

After a long and productive life, Ev passed away at St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon on August 23, 2012 in her 97th year. She was born December 4, 1915, the youngest of the five children of Aggie Alice and Charles Hainsworth of Mountainside, MB. Ev graduated from nursing training in 1939 in Morden, MB and met her future husband, Ewald Witt during this time. In 1953 they moved to Assiniboia, SK where they operated a Robinson's Store and later Witt's Family Fashions for 20 years. Following retirement, Ev and Ewald became tireless volunteers with the Assiniboia and District Museum. Many of her quilts were raffled as fund raisers for the Museum. Ev was a feisty lady who loved nothing more than being busy and useful. She lived independently in Assiniboia until 2010 and again in Saskatoon until her final illness. She remained busy with handicrafts and friends until the end. Predeceased by her husband, Ewald in 1999, she is survived by her daughter Enid and husband Douglas Jaques, granddaughters Kaley Pugh (Byron) and Heather Jaques, extended family and numerous dear friends.
