William Roland West

William Roland West, age 80, of Ashland, Virginia passed away on Friday, December 29, 2023. He was born in Newport News, VA, raised in Powhatan County and was a longtime resident of Hanover County. He graduated from Powhatan High School in 1961, attended Campbell College in Buies Creek, NC and graduated from VCU with a B.S. Degree in Business Management. Bill retired from Virginia Power (VEPCO at the time of his employment and now known as Dominion Energy) in 1998 after thirty three years of service.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Delores Tibbs West (Del), father James William West, mother Louise Piercy West Lippy, step-father Oliver C. Lippy, life-long friend since 1956 Joe Kaeperski, Kacey and Ann Kacpenski, Jane and Dick Brekke, and long-time friend since 1970 John Lange. He is survived by his daughter Stephanie West Smart, son-in-law Ryland Smart, granddaughters Courtney Smart and Tiffany Smart Dozier (Josh), great granddaughter Harper Dozier and brothers Carter Lippy (Gwen) and Steve Lippy (Linda), Kacperski family and friends Joe Kacperski, Jr, Rebecca and Ken Grant, Cindy and Chuck Levinson, life-long friend since 1st grade Lillie Stratton.

Relatives and friends are invited to William's visitation on Monday, January 15, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Nelsen Ashland, 412 S. Washington Hwy., Ashland, VA 23005 and where a funeral service will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 from 11:30 AM. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 4000 Pilots Lane, Richmond, VA.
