Thomas Joseph Stanley Sr.

STANLEY, Thomas Joseph Sr.,73, died Wednesday, April 19, 2017. Thomas, Tom, TJ, Grandpa Stanley, was born in 1943. He graduated from Patrick Henry High School and attended Ferrum College. Tom was an avid golfer and loved to spend time at the Rappahannock River. He worked his entire 39-year career with Virginia State Police and served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the 144th session of the FBI National Academy. Tom is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Stanley Williams (JC Williams, Jr.); son, Thomas Joseph (Jay) Stanley, Jr. (Candyce Cumber Stanley); granddaughters, Caedynce Annadel Stanley, Savannah Seldon Rose Stanley, and Kendall Ann Williams; grandson, Hunter Jay Najieb Stanley; brother, Henry W. Stanley, Jr. (Francine Stanley); and brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, aunts, uncles, nieces, cousins, and god child. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Blunt Stanley; parents, Henry W. Stanley, Sr. and Margaret S. Stanley. His remains rest at the Nelsen Funeral Home-Reid Chapel, 412 S. Washington Hwy., Ashland, VA 23005, where the family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. & 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, April 23, 2017, and a service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 24, 2017.
