Stephany Fussell White

Stephany Fussell White of Beaverdam, Virginia died Wednesday, January 14, 2024 after a brief illness. Stephany was the daughter of Grady Fussell and Edna S. Gregory. She was born on September 9, 1938 in Belhaven, North Carolina. Stephany grew up in Belhaven and after graduation attended Atlantic Christian College in Wilson, NC. After receiving her Associates Degree, she married Harold Thorne White, Jr., who preceded her in death. Together they had four children. After living several years in North Carolina, they moved to Virginia, first living in Hampton then settling in Beaverdam. Stephany was first and foremost a mom and wife. However, she worked as a secretary in several places before having children. After moving to Beaverdam, she worked many years at General Crushed Stone in Doswell. Stephany was an avid reader, often reading more than 100 books in a year. As a lover of words, she enjoyed crossword puzzles and the daily Jumble. One of her favorite things was family gatherings, where she was able to show off her amazing cooking skills. Stephany also enjoyed gardening, canning, and sitting on the porch swing with her beloved husband, Harold. Stephany was a Christian and longtime member of Elon Baptist Church, where she served as a choir member and on many committees before she was unable to attend. She took great pride in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Stephany is survived by her brother David Fussell (Sally), her sister Libby Jenette (Sonny), her sister-in-law Delores Paul (Don), her children Lynn (Pam), Betsy (Jim), Julie (Tim), and David (Christina.), her grandchildren Emily (Derek), Jay (Brooke), Andy (Christine), Barrett, Hunter, Ann Conway, and Cada, and her great-grandchildren Sydney, Jude, Quinn, and Virginia. She would have loved meeting her newest great who is due in February. Stephany is also survived by several beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews. Her sister Susan Smith, brother-in-law Danny Smith, and brother Preston Fussell preceded her in death. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 29, 2024, at 1:00 at Elon Baptist Church 14031 Verdon Rd, Ruther Glen, VA 22546. The funeral will begin at 2:00 with interment in the Elon Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Elon Baptist Church Cemetery fund ℅ Sheila Woody. Stephany embraced her life philosophy of “blooming where you are planted”.
