OBITUARY
Rosewell Franklin Jones
March 22, 1915 – August 25, 2022

At the age of 107, Rosewell Franklin Jones Sr. went to be with the Lord on August, 25th, 2022.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Minta Rice, the mother of their five children and his second wife, Bessie Mae Hall and grandchild, David.
He is survived by his three sons, Tony (Jeraldine), Rosewell Jr. (Peggy), Charles David (Joan), and two daughters, Joanne (Jim) and Diane (Peter), nine grandchildren, Wanda Jones, Rosewell Jones III, Sheryl Flory, Deborah Inge, Brenda Taylor, Ann Venne, Pam Bryant, and Jean vanTreeck, fourteen great grandchildren, and six great great grandchildren.
Rosewell was a steelworker at the Bristol Steel Company for many years, assisting with the construction of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. On June 3rd 1948, he joined The Fraternal Order of Odd Fellows. Rosewell helped to organize and fund the Hanover Rescue Squad with his generous donations of land, the original building, and his volunteer efforts. He was also a fireman at the Helltown Station.
His love of nature included gardening, fishing, and fox hunting with his dogs, which earned him many winning ribbons.
Rosewell truly loved his family. His grandchildren called him "Corkie." Everyone loved his homemade pound cake and chocolate pie.
The family would like to thank his care angels, Jean Dungan, Carolyn Hendrix, Kim Hall, Charles Stanley, Karen Epps, Mozelle Miller, and especially Ellen Marie Stanley. Special Appreciation to Hospice of Virginia and his nurse, Anne Jowaisas.
A Visitation will be held Thursday, September 1st, 2022 from 2PM to 4 PM and 6PM to 8PM at Nelsen Funeral Home located at 412 S Washington Hwy, Ashland VA, 23005.
The following day Friday, September 2nd, 2022 at 11AM a Funeral Service will be held at Shiloh United Methodist Church located at 17420 Shiloh Church Rd, Montpelier VA, 23192. A Graveside service is to follow immediately after the Funeral service in the Shiloh United Methodist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests Memorial Contributions to the Shiloh Cemetery and Beautification Fund.
