Roland grew up in Montpelier, Virginia, where he graduated from Henry Clay High School, and later attended Richmond Professional Institute. He found his passion in the automotive industry, and this led him to the profession of diesel mechanic. With such strong foundational knowledge, Roland utilized this knowledge to progress into truck sales with Mack Trucks, creating trucks for various business purposes on paper, and helping them be built to specification for their ultimate use in the trucking industry. Roland was employed by Mack Trucks and Virginia Truck Center for 42 years. In retirement, he loved applying his knowledge to restoring antique Mack trucks and also serving his community, and sharing knowledge for “Field Day Of The Past”, where he was also recognized as Volunteer Of The Year.
Roland loved his days with his family and traveling to Florida and the beaches of North Carolina with them. After an 11-year journey with Alzheimer’s, the family is grateful to know he is at peace. In lieu of memorial gifts, please consider a donation to Field Day Of The Past (PO Box 29643 Richmond, VA 23242).
Services for the family will be private.
