Roger Antal Toth, “Bubba,” died peacefully at home in Beaverdam, VA on Tuesday, 21 August at the age of 73. Roger is survived by his wife, Roxie Toth; daughters Rebecca Bray (and husband James) of Louisa, VA and Kathyrn Bennett (and husband James) of Fitchburg, MA and; son Roger “Rusty” Toth (and wife Stacey Hansen) currently of Tokyo, Japan; Grandsons, James “Jeb” Bray III of Louisa, VA; Erik Bennett (and wife Christina) of Fitchburg, MA; James Bennett (and partner Allison Albridge) of Gofftown, NH; Great Granddaughter Milah Bennett of Fitchburg, MA; sister, Joyce Bennett (and husband William) of Alberta, VA; and numerous other loving family members. He is preceded in death by parents Louise and Roger Toth of Varina, VA. Roger was born in July 1945 and raised in Varina, VA. He graduated from Varina High School, Class of 1963. He enlisted in the US Coast Guard (Air Sea Rescue) the same year and served 5-years active and 1-year reserve duty. In 1969, he met and married his loving wife of 49 years, Roxie. He graduated with honors from the IBEW Electrician Apprenticeship program and went on to work for the H.P. Foley Electric Company and later GM Powertrain, retiring from GM after 22 years. Roger was an accomplished electrician, amateur bird watcher, and devoted husband. He was passionate about the US Coast Guard, his amazing home, and his loving family.Visitation is scheduled 5 to 8PM Friday, 24 August at Nelsen’s Funeral Home in Ashland, VA; the primary funeral service will be held 1PM Saturday, 25 August also at Nelsen’s; and a graveside service at 2PM Sunday, 26 August at Washington Memorial Park, in Richmond, VA. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Roger's life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the West Hanover Volunteer Rescue Squad – Co. 15.
