Mike was a man rich with admirable qualities and talents but almost everyone who knew him would first describe his big heart as strong, kind, and generous. He was born on February 3, 1945, only months before the end of World War 2. The romance of the west, learning about Native American culture, athletics, exploring, hunting, and fishing were part of his childhood and these remained a distinctive part of his adult life. He excelled as an athlete and coach in school and college athletics. He loved football and baseball and he had a sixth degree black belt in martial arts.
He was passionate about his work and enjoyed his career as an entrepreneur and as the broker and owner of Virginia Real Estate & Development Inc. in Ashland, Virginia. Mike loved music and played regularly for local nursing homes. He was an active member of Mechanicsville Christian Center, reaching out to assist those who were homeless as well as those who were recovering from substance abuse. Most important to him was his relationship with Christ and living life unto Him.
Everyone who knew Mike recognized that he lived life with passion, excellence, integrity, strength and humility. He will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN) in honor of him.
