Carter, Michael T., of Glen Allen, VA, age 77, passed away Sunday, October 12, 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Anna May Carter and his brother, Joe Carter. Mike retired from Reynolds Metal Co. in 1996 as a chemist with 36 years of service. He served in the VA Air National Guard for 22 years and retired in 1977 with the rank of Major. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Barbara; a son, J.C. Carter (Cathy); a daughter, Pamela Nicholson (Andy); three grandsons, Tyler, Austin and Adam Carter. A memorial service with military honors will be held Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Nelsen Funeral Home, Reid Chapel, 412 S. Washington Hwy. Ashland, VA. The family will receive friends immediately following the service until 4:00 pm and again from 6:00-8:00pm. The family would like to thank the many friends and relatives for their kindness and support, and Asera Care Hospice at Golden Living Community (E. House).
