Mary Jane Smith

The family of Mary Jane Smith from Hasting, Nebraska is saddened to announce her passing on Friday, March 29, 2024. She went to be with her sister Kathy Seifert and father Ben Seifert at the age of 78. She was a wonderful wife, loving mother, caring nana, and phenomenal great Nana. Mary and her husband Walter raised 4 amazing children that were the center of their world. There is nothing that they wouldn't do or sacrifice for their family. She did her best to make sure she always made everyone feel her love. She was an amazing example of putting others first, caring for those she took under her wing, and sharing her big heart with everyone she loved. She was a powerful woman who charted her own course and loved fiercely.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years Walter J. Smith, Sr.; her daughter's and sons and their wives Geri Smith, James Smith Jr and wife Kalena Smith, Jessica Smith and Tommy Nichols, Benjamin Smith and wife Samantha Smith, Kalani Kauo and Segan Kauo and Kenda Edmunds.

She also is survived by her 23 grandchildren Jeremiah 28, Kealii 25, Yakira 23, Alyssa 22, Javonta 22, Mariah 22, Elijah 22 Kaleena 21, Jeevan 20, Anthony 20, Aiden 19, Kalani II 19, Jaiden 19, Tatiana 17, James 16, Zion 15 Colin 15, Kiana 12, Abigail 7, Brooklyne 7, Lilyana 6, Riley-sue 3, Damon 3, and 3 great- grandchildren Lael 5, Lily 20 month, Dean 18 month with 2 more on the way.

She will be forever missed and always in our hearts.
