Marion S. Johnson

Marion S. Johnson, 91, longtime resident of Elmont, VA, died peacefully on June 6, 2018, at the home of her granddaughter. Born in Bernardsville, NJ, Mrs. Johnson was the daughter of the late Samuel Saebic and Annie Saebic Hummer, and was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph M. Johnson. Following her 1948 graduation from St. Luke's School of Nursing, New York City, she served in the US Cadet Nurse Corp Program at McGuire VA Medical Center, Richmond, VA, where she met her future husband. She retired from Richmond Memorial Hospital as a nursing supervisor following a long and rewarding career. A year later she returned to work part-time as a cashier for Ukrop's Grocery, an activity she enjoyed. She is survived by her sister, Pauline S. Condit, Dallas, TX; her three children, Mary Ann Clark (David), Keswick, VA; Timothy Johnson (Rhonda), Aylett, VA; Elizabeth Holloway (BJ), Glen Allen, VA; two grandchildren, Crystal Rodriguez-Holloway (Jose) and Jason Holloway of Glen Allen, great-granddaughter, Cassandra Rodriguez-Holloway, and a number of nieces and nephews. A service of remembrance will be held on Friday, June 15, 2018 at Nelsen Funeral Home & Crematory - Reid Chapel, 412 S. Washington Highway, Ashland, VA 23005 at 1:00pm.
