George Elliott Corker, Jr., 82, originally from Hanover, Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, December 20, 2017. He was preceded in death by his son, William Elliott Corker. He retired from NASA in 1994 after 32 years of service. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Ruby Mallory Corker; children, Phyllis Stoneburner (Bob), Garry Corker (Nancy), Cheryl Bookwalter (Scott), and Larry Corker (Debbie); nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Robertson and Cynthia Epps; as well as numerous extended family and friends. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 28, 2017 from 1-2 PM at Nelsen Funeral Home in Ashland, VA, followed by a service at 2 PM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in George's name may be made to the Hampton Division of Fire and Rescue, Station 6: in C/O Chris Gallagher, 22 Lincoln Street, Hampton, VA 23669.
