Dorothy Dalton Cauthorne, 85, of Ashland, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 16, 2018. Born April 30, 1933. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Carlton Cauthorne; daughter, Sharon Cauthorne; her mother and father, Barney and Iona Dalton; brothers, Elmer Dalton, Jim Dalton, and Troy Dalton; and sister, Louise Stanley. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Brenda Hubbard (Donald), Johnny Cauthorne, and Debbie Priest; eight grandchildren, Orie and Jesse, children of Brenda; Renee', Priscilla and Jonathan, children of Johnny; Carrie and Tony, children of Sharon; Joshua, son of Debbie; and 14 great-grandchildren, Trent and Wyatt, sons of Renee'; Brandon, Mason, Carson, sons of Priscilla; Annalee, daughter of Jonathan; David, Ashley, Ciara, Tristan, children of Carrie, Dalton, Madison, Grayson, Eizley, children of Tony; three sisters, Edith Watson, Thelma Taylor and Geneva Dalton; and many nieces and nephews. Dorothy graduated in 1952 as Salutatorian from Henry Clay High School. She retired from the USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) ASCS (Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Committee) of Hanover Co. after 30 years of service. Her last job was Secretary for Cauthorne Auto and Tire. She was a charter member of the Ashland Church of God, Sunday school teacher and clerk of the Church for 55 years. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 19, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Ashland Church of God, 407 Myrtle Street, Ashland, Va. 23005, where a funeral service will be held on Wednesday, at 1 p.m. Interment will follow in Woodland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Home for Children and Missions through the Ashland Church of God. The family would like to thank all of caregivers who gave excellent care and her second family, the congregation of the Ashland Church of God. Also, thank you to Kindred Hospice for helping us near the end of her life.
