He was preceded in death by his parents, Beryl Richard and Johanna Marie Newman, and brother, Richard "Dickie" Newman.
Byron leaves behind his loving wife of 27.5 years, Jean Newman; daughter, Lisa Marie "Lucy"; siblings, Bob Newman and Diane Moody; one special niece, Alisa Farmer and numerous nieces and nephews.
Byron's first love was the Lord. He served the Lord for over forty years. He dedicated his life to serving his church and congregation. He was known for his prayer request book filled to the brim, and visiting the sick in the hospital.
The family will receive friends from 11 am to 12 pm on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at Nelsen Funeral Home, 412 S. Washington Hwy., Ashland, Va. 23005 where a memorial service will begin at 12 pm.
