Heaven gained a gentle giant on Sunday, October 22, 2023. Al is now at rest and free from suffering. God must have known to tack an extra half foot when he built Al. He would need all that extra space to pack in so much kindness and generosity. Al will be greatly missed by many, humans and animals alike. He gave love and shelter to many rescued animals and his dogs gave him great joy. Al loved spending time with his children and playing with his grandchildren. He marveled at the beauty of God’s creations everywhere from the smallest feather to the flowing river. Watching “his” eagles soar at the river always put a smile on his face.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 2, 2023 from 11 to 12 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home in Ashland, VA where a service will immediately follow at 12 p.m. Should friends desire, contributions may be sent to Hanover Humane Society in Ashland, VA.
