February 5, 1942-December 27, 2022
Shirley Ann Loris was born in Mansfield, Ohio to Nick and Eva (Yanoschek) Loris. She grew up in Mansfield surrounded by her large extended family. Their celebrations and holidays full of traditions, laughter, and food were vivid memories for her for many years.
Shirley was a proud 1960 graduate of St. Peter’s High School who loved reuniting with her classmates. In 1964, she married Keith DeLong and moved to Ashland, Ohio. Shirley and her family attended St. Edward Church in Ashland. She worked as an aide at Montgomery Elementary School and in the office at Specialty Advertising. Spending time with those students and her co-workers were fulfilling times in her life. Shirley enjoyed supporting Ashland High School’s athletic and music programs as her children and grandchildren grew up, and she was a passionate Cleveland & Ohio sports fan. Grandma “Shirlz” spent the last 50 years creating memorable experiences and celebrations of all sizes for her children and grandchildren. She loved fiercely.
Shirley is survived by her three children; Karla (Mark) Jenkins of Ashland, David (Cynthia) DeLong of New Albany, Ohio, and Christopher DeLong of Henderson, Nevada, and four granddaughters; Zoe & Emma Jenkins and Eva & Lila DeLong. Also surviving is a sister, Kathy Miller of Springfield, Tennessee. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Private services will be held for the immediate family. Contributions in memory of Shirley may be made to St. Edward Parish, 501 Cottage Street, Ashland, Ohio 44805. The Ashland Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is honored to serve the family.
