Frederick E. Foster Jr., passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, February 11, 2024 with his family by his side after a very short battle with cancer. Fred was born to Frederick and LaFonda (Wiley) Foster on November 12, 1961 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Fred attended Ashland High School where he met his wife, Karen Summerton and they were married October 13, 1979. Fred was employed with Pentair in Ashland for 42 years before retiring November 12, 2021.
Fred, also known as “Frog” to many, enjoyed bowling, slow pitch softball, fishing, watching The Ohio State Buckeyes, The Cleveland Browns and The Cleveland Indians. He enjoyed golfing and playing poker on Saturdays with his friends. Fred enjoyed being outdoors grilling and listening to music.
Fred is survived by his wife of 44 years, Karen; his son, Frederick E. Foster III; his daughter, Jessica (Nathanael) Marshall; his granddaughter, Mackenzie (Tristen) Foster; grandson, Hutson Marshall; his cat, Bernie; his sisters, Victoria Johnson of Washington, PA, Joyce (Dennis) Murray of Coshocton, OH, Deborah (John) Baer of Washington, PA; his brother, Stephen (Rosemary) Foster of Alice, TX; and uncle, Daniel (Ruthann) Wiley of Burbank, Ohio; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick and LaFonda; his grandparents, Henry and Opal Wiley; and two of his closest friends, Bruce Goon and John Leiter.
Family and friends may visit from 1:00-3:00 pm on Sunday, February 18, 2024 at Wappner Funeral Directors-Ashland, 308 Claremont Avenue. Pastor Andrew Shank will officiate funeral services at the funeral home on Monday, February 19, 2024 beginning at 10:00 am. Fred will be laid to rest in Ashland Cemetery.
