Sharon Shellenberger was born to Rodney Shellenberger and Ruth Young on May 22, 1940 in Pueblo, Colorado. She is preceded in death by both her parents. A second-generation Colorado native, Sharon attended Central High School in Pueblo, graduating in 1958. She lived in Colorado her entire life, in many parts of the state. Sharon married in Pueblo in 1964 taking the last name Eller, then she had three children, Melani Kae, Valeri Dawn, and Marcus Preston.
Sharon spent many years as a wife and mother. In 1977 she began a career with the United States Olympic Committee at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. She attended many Olympic events and PanAm games over the years as a representative of the United State Olympic Team, her first was in Seoul Korea in 1988 and final Olympic Games Athens Greece in 2004. She retired in 2005 as the Ticket Manager, after a 27-year career.
Sharon is survived in life by her brother Lewis (Butch) Colter Shellenberger, her children Melani Drake, Valeri Butler, and Marcus Eller. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Joshua Schofield, Dawn Renee Parke, Sarah Schofield, Kyle Eller, Matthew Schaefer, and Jaimee Schaefer. In addition to grandchildren, she is survived by two great grandchildren Levi and Willow.
Sharon was an extraordinarily strong Christian woman with great faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Her family takes comfort in knowing she is “absent from the body, present with the Lord.”
