Bob “Woody” Plank, son of Robert G. Plank Sr. and Helen (Eichner) Plank, grew up in German Village of Columbus, OH and assisted his father at a young age in the family business, Plank’s Bakery. He graduated from Aquinas High in 1962 and was among the first Joyce Scholars to attend Notre Dame University. Always proud to be part of the Fighting Irish, he graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, class of 1966. In 1967 he married Celeste (Cater) Plank. After two years as an officer in the US Army, including a tour in Vietnam in 1968, Bob travelled extensively as a Project Engineer and Manager in Manufacturing. His work brought him to live in Singapore, Puerto Rico, China, Brazil and Toronto as well as several places in the US – mainly Connecticut, Missouri and Illinois. His retirement years were spent in Evergreen, CO, living in a humble cabin with his beloved “critters” and cat, Mr. Chips. He was a frequent fixture in local bars as Bob #1, singing karaoke hits by Jim Reeves, Patsy Cline and Elvis. Bob was preceded in death by his son-in-law Chad Johnson.
