Joseph “Mickey” Hawley July 20, 1937 – December 23, 2017 Long time Colorado Springs CO resident, Mickey passed away in the loving arms of family, on December 23, 2017 from complications of dementia and stroke. He was born in Detroit, MI to John and Sadie (LaFrance) Hawley. He graduated from Troy (MI) High School in 1956, joined the Army in 1958, and married Nanci (Smisek) August 28th of the same year. When Mickey left the Army after a few years, he pursued an interest in becoming an electrician. Earning Journeyman status, he worked for the IBEW in Detroit, while raising four children. After a lengthy strike, Mickey made a decision to move to southern California in 1970. That is where he started his successful electrical contracting business that continued for many years. After retiring, he moved to Colorado Springs in 1997 to be near his children and grandchildren. A life long lover of the game of golf, Mickey could easily have participated in the pro circuit. He also loved watching his children and grandchildren as they participated in many activities, and mostly being challenging and adorable. Mickey always had a ready smile, a quick wit, and a sense of adventure. He truly loved life’s simplest pleasures, people watching, and chatting with friends and family. He will always be remembered for his bedtime stories, sometimes inappropriate sense of humor, his loving but ornery nature, and his handsomeness and ability to croon a pretty good tune. Mickey is survived by his wife, Nanci, three children, Mike (Tara), Ron (NaNa), and Julie (Gabriel) Solache; grandchildren, Rhiannon, Ryan, Nicole, Kiana, Kareena, Shaelynn, Kailynn, and Gabrielle, great-grandchild, ElliMae; sister, Sally Wright, and those always embraced as grandchildren, Hector and Ariana.
