Virginia I. Kemp (nee Wineinger) of St. Louis, Mo., formerly of Arnold, Mo., passed away on Thursday, July 10, 2014, at the age of 82. Beloved wife of Leroy E. Kemp. Loving mother of Chester Bridges, Donna (Jose') Bridges-Medina, Beverly Kemp, Terrie (the late Michael) Jameson-Collins, Charlotte Jameson-Miller and the late Dennis Bridges and Cheryl Kemp. Dear sister of Kenneth (Linda) Wineinger, Lucille (the late Lloyd) Sullivan and the late Charles "Chuck" Wineinger. Our dear grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, aunt and dear friend of many.
Virginia was the first female disc jockey in the Midwest and worked at KSTL radio for 25 years, she was the first female entertainer for the troops in Thule, Greenland and was inducted into the Hall of Fame for disc jockies at the Grand Ole Opry. She had fans all over the world from her many years of travel. She has been playing, singing and writing music for over 60 years.
Funeral service to be held at Heiligtag-Lang-Fendler Funeral Home, 1081 Jeffco Blvd., Arnold, Mo. on Monday, July 14, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. Interment Park Lawn Cemetery. Visitation Sunday, July 13, from 5-8:00 p.m. Condolences may be offered at www.heiligtagfuneralhome.com.
