Bill will be remembered for his smile, caring ways and big heart! Bill would “give you the shirt off his back” and would do anything for family and friends.
Bill was born to Tom & Mary Welsh at Burlington Memorial in Skagit County on October 8, 1947. Bill attended all his school years in Sedro-Woolley, WA graduating in 1966. Bill was active in track and football where he set high school athletic records. Upon graduation Bill enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Germany for one year followed by another year in Vietnam, returning home in May 1969.
After his military years Bill worked at Safeway. While working at Safeway Barbara was introduced to Bill by a mutual friend. They married on August 28, 1971 in Sedro-Woolley, WA. Their first home was in Mount Vernon and later they moved back to Sedro-Woolley until moving to Darrington in 1973 where Bill worked for Summit Timber Company. He was then hired by Whitley Evergreen Mobile where he worked for 18 years and lived in Arlington, WA at the time of his death.
Bill and Barbara shared many activities together. They bowled in various leagues through their marriage. Bill golfed for several years with the Redmond Eagles. He was also involved with Boys Club sports and umpiring for ASA.
He is survived by his wife Barbara Welsh, his two sons Christopher Welsh; Wayne Welsh and Stacie Locke and Josh; two grandchildren Alexander Welsh and Kyle Heirman. Brothers Daniel Welsh, Michael M. Welsh; and sister Jackie Welsh Angleton; and several nieces and nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Bill was preceded in death by his father Thomas Edward Welsh and his mother Mary M. Walker Welsh. Memorial services will be at 1 P.M., Saturday, April 12, 2014 at Weller Funeral Home, Arlington, WA for immediate family and close friends, followed by a celebration of Bill’s life, open to all friends and family at 2:30 at the Pioneer Hall, 67th Avenue N.E. Armar Rd., Arlington, WA.
