

Larry “Papa” Lee McKernan, 69, of Arlington, WA, passed away December 29, 2011 in Spokane, WA. He was born to Walter and Ellamae McKernan December 11, 1942 in Spokane. Larry graduated from Arlington High School in 1961. He had many work experiences from working on a crab processing boat to being a Supervisor at Nord Door Co. and finally as a metal fabricator with Arlington Machinery. Larry enjoyed woodworking, reading, clam digging, going to car shows, making pancakes, gardening, his daily routine of talking to the boys and most of all playing with the grandchildren. He was a caring, compassionate, strong willed, mischievous, loyal, dedicated and sensitive husband, father and grandfather. Preceding him in death is his father Walter Lee McKernan. Larry is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Pearl McKernan of Arlington, mother Ellamae Whybra of Spokane; daughters, Jennifer (Carsten) Mullin of Arlington, Heather (Travis) Bohn of Coeur d’ Alene, ID; brothers, Dale McKernan of Silvana, WA, Gary McKernan of Colbert WA; grandchildren, Eva Mullin (7), Elizabeth Mullin (5), Gavin Bohn (5), Khloe Mullin (1) and many other surrogate grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 4, 2012, 11:00 a.m. at Weller Funeral Home, 327 N. MacLeod Ave., Arlington, with a graveside service to follow at Arlington Municipal Cemetery.
