Her early years were spent in Mocksville, NC, well known for her ability to have the answer to any question, as noted in her yearbook and proven throughout her life. She died at her home on February 8, 2017 after a long illness, surrounded by her family.
Edwina attended Women's College of UNC, was married young and had four children. She divorced, then married Pete James Davies of Durham, NC, her mate of 48 years. Edwina was well known for her love of bright color, wild patterns and designs, art, travel, history, her feistiness, and Christmas. Her hobbies included interior design and decorating, stained glass, cooking, shopping, gardening, knitting, telling great stories and spoiling her grandchildren. Her skill with early video games was legendary amongst the grandchildren's circle, who still exclaim that "She beat the game of Zelda with only one life!" She was happiest when she had little ones around and loved to take them out and about on shopping and ice cream excursions. Christmas was her favorite time of year, taking months to decorate and prepare to host the family, creating so many wonderful memories for us all. She lived a long and happy life. Her vibrant personalty and Southern accent will be missed by all who knew her.
Special thanks to Hospice of the Northwest, who guided us all through the end of her life. They were truly angels.
Edwina requested no formal services. Instead, the party she desired will be held at her home for family and friends. All must wear Red or Purple.
