that we are called to be faithful servants and instruments, unto our dying breath."
--Father Patrick Hayden, La Paz, Bolivia
Patricio “Pat” Salazar was very smart, funny, unassuming, and humble about his gifts and talents. He studied at the German School (Colegio Aleman Mariscal Braun) in his native La Paz, Bolivia, and later at the University of North Dakota. Pat eventually settled in Virginia among his many friends.
His breadth of knowledge extended from international politics to classic literature, from space science to ecology and conservation.
But above all, Pat LOVED sports and hiking, and had a passion for nature and animals. He was an avid walker and always longed for Bolivia and his Andean mountains. Pat was kind-hearted, a man of integrity and character, who believed in doing the right thing no matter what the cost.
He was simply an amazing human being.
A Celebration of his Life is scheduled on Saturday, October 27, 2018, 4:00 to 7:00 PM with the service scheduled from 5:00-6:00 PM at Murphy Funeral Home, 4510 Wilson Boulevard in Arlington, VA.
Pat would want us all to feel comfortable, so please come along in casual clothes. Sport is a key part of the theme, so we encourage his friends to wear their favorite sports jerseys, hats, etc. – whatever feels right.
All are welcome to attend and help us celebrate Pat’s life.
In lieu of flowers, we suggest donations to the GoFundMe campaign set up in his memory to support victims of sexual violence.
