Patricia McKay Pigg, “Pat”, 91 of Arlington, VA went to her rest peacefully in Ypsilanti Michigan, on Friday, January 8, 2016.
Pat was born in Plainfield NJ and grew up in Rye, NY, Miami FL, and Greenwich, CT. She graduated from Greenwich Academy. She earned a BS in chemistry from Mt Holyoke College. Pat met her husband, Keith, at West Point. They were married after WWII. She lived in Ft. Hood TX, Nuremberg Germany, Ft Leonard Wood MO, Ft Ord CA, Ft Belvoir VA, Danbury CT, Ft Campbell, KY, Arlington VA, and Buenos Aires Argentina. Pat enjoyed teaching Math, English and History in VA and KY to soldiers seeking their high school diplomas. She later earned her Master’s in math education at George Washington. Pat taught math at Joyce Kilmer Middle School, Fairfax VA, and lived in Northern Virginia for over fifty years. She loved to travel. She toured and explored the United States, Europe, South America, Australia and New Zealand. Pat loved to cook, enjoyed entertaining, loved movies, and was a voracious reader. After her eyesight failed a few years ago she became a great fan of audio books for the blind. Pat was a devout Catholic, active in the Church, and attended daily Mass for over forty years.
She is survived by her four children and their spouses, Elizabeth Candace Pigg (Daniel Stoltz) of Arlington, VA, Michael Keith Pigg McKay (Nancy McKay), of Ann Arbor MI, Robert Willard Pigg (Susan Pigg), of Okemos, MI, and Jennifer Pigg Clark (Peter Clark), of Lexington, MA. Pat has nine grandchildren, Christopher C Evich (Jean) of Raleigh, NC Sarah M Lacy (Nick), Ann Arbor, Katherine E McKay of Burlington, NJ, Bethany J Selleck (Zack) of Nunica, MI, Matthew M. McKay of Chicago, IL, Nicholas R Pigg of Okemos, MI, Andrew K Pigg of Okemos, MI Elizabeth D Stoltz of ‘78
Visitation will be Monday, Feb. 29 from 3 to 5 pm and 7 to 9 pm at Murphy Funeral Home, Wilson Blvd, Arlington. Services will be held at St. Agnes Catholic Church on Tuesday, March 1st at 11 AM, Arlington to be followed by graveside service at Arlington National Cemetery where she will be buried with her husband, Milton Keith Pigg.
