Patricia Mack Horner of Arlington, Virginia, passed away on January 21, 2022, in Arlington. Patricia was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Horner. She is survived by her children Michael Horner (Nya Daniels), Anne Santalla (Amador), and Kevin Horner (Sandy); her grandchildren Amy Bowab (Michael), Adam Pierce (Jacob), Jesse Horner, and Andrew Santalla (Hannah), and her godchildren Laura Scheele, Luke VanBelleghem and Kevin Mallon.
Patricia was born on March 15, 1938, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, to Herbert and Charlotte Mack. She grew up in Lowell, Massachusetts, Oak Ridge, Tennessee, and Paducah, Kentucky, before attending Merrimack University in North Andover, Massachusetts. Following graduation, she moved to Arlington, and worked for the Central Intelligence Agency, where she met her husband, Joe. Over the years, they raised three children in Arlington, with a three-year adventure in Tehran, Iran, from 1968-71.
Patricia was a great friend to many over the years, as well as a woman of many interests and skills. She was an accomplished potter and was a key part of an early Food Co-Op in Arlington. She worked for Arlington County Public Schools for many years, where she led programs that helped people find jobs. She was active in several churches throughout the years. She was a talented cake decorator, a skill she mastered in her later years as she became an active grandmother to her four grandchildren.
Visitation will be at Murphy Funeral Home of Arlington (4510 Wilson Blvd, Arlington, VA) on Monday, January 31, from 3:00PM-7:00PM. Services will be held on February 1, at 11:00AM, at St. Ann Catholic Church (5300 North 10th St., Arlington, VA), followed by burial at Columbia Gardens Cemetery (3411 Arlington Blvd., Arlington, VA).
