Dr. Norman Louis Wilson, Jr. (age 86) died on March 19, 2024 in Alexandria, VA. Born in Buffalo, NY, he moved to the DC area in the late 1960s and to Arlington, VA in the mid-1980s. He received his medical degree from Harvard Medical School in 1963 and practiced psychiatry for most of his life, named in 2005 as a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. Norman later wrote, “I am...now retired after a long fascinating career of psychotherapy, hypnotherapy, and forensic psychiatry . I have treated many persons with dissociative identity disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder. I have tried to use a zen outlook in life, laughing at myself and the world as much as possible.” He was preceded in death by his wife, Phien Wilson (born Ly Thi Phien) and his sister Lynn. Norm is survived by his son Dan Wilson, daughter-in-law Amanda Vender, grandchildren Miles and Naomi Vender-Wilson, nephew Peter Wachtel, his wife Sue, and their children Aaron and Brooklynn, nephew Jonathan Wachtel, sister-in-law Nga Smith and her husband Sam, niece Ly Vick-Johnson, her husband Erik Johnson, and their daughter Eloise Vick-Johnson. Dr. Wilson's interment will take place on Friday, March 29 at 2:00 p.m. at Columbia Gardens Cemetery, 3411 Arlington Boulevard, Arlington, VA.
